Personal Information Privacy Policy 

Purpose: To act in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) 

Definitions: 

Personal Information: Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual, such as an e-mail address, name, title, and postal address. 

Exceptions: business contact information is not considered personal information.
Client: Client refers to all Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus members, donors, supporters, advertisers and ticket purchasers. 

THE HALIFAX GAY MEN’S CHORUS RESPECTS DATA PRIVACY 

We care about how our client’s personal information is used and shared, and we will do so carefully and sensibly. We manage our client and membership’s information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We have designated an individual who is responsible for compliance with our privacy policy. 

By using the Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus (HGMC) website, clients consent to the data practices described below. 

Privacy Policy Summary: 

●  HGMC collects personal information in a variety of ways, including when persons register as a member, sign-up for mailing lists, purchase tickets or make a donation. 

●  Our website uses cookies. These cookies improve the user experience on our site, and also share information about use of our site with our social media, advertising, and analytics partners. 

●  We may use personal information to communicate with our membership and clients. They can request to cease communications at any time. 

●  We do not sell, trade, lease, or rent personal information. 

●  We may share that information with third parties who are acting as contractors on our behalf. 

●  We will only disclose personal information, without notice, if required to do so by federal or provincial law. 

PRIVACY POLICY 

HGMC collects personal information (including name, address, phone number, email, etc.) when selling tickets and processing donations. We may also acquire information for participation in surveys, entering contests, or registering to receive email updates. 

Our website at hgmc.ca uses cookies. These cookies improve experiences on our site, and also share information about the use of our site with our social media, advertising, and analytics partners who may combine it with other information provided to them or collected from the use of their services. Access to our website will still be available if cookies are disabled through browser settings. 

Personal Information Privacy Policy 

HGMC may use personal information to provide customer service including reminders about concert dates, times, and logistics, information about schedule or artistic changes, upcoming events, and special offers. Personal information will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected unless a client has otherwise consented. 

We may also use collected personal information to communicate about ticket sales or donations through direct mail, email, or telephone. A request to have such communications halted at any time can be made and an unsubscribe option will be available on all communications of this nature. 

HGMC may include an opt-in or opt-out box on certain order forms to ensure that individuals can receive information about other HGMC and related organization publications and activities should they so desire. 

We do not sell, trade, lease, or rent personal information.
Clients have the right to request to review any personal information we maintain. 

HGMC may share personal information with selected third parties acting on our behalf as our contracted agents. We are satisfied that these third parties have security protocols in place to protect that information. However, these third parties may not all be based in Canada, meaning that the information may be processed in a foreign country. Therefore, it may be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities of that jurisdiction. 

We do not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information regarding race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliations. 

We will only disclose personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to protect the rights or property of HGMC, or to protect the personal safety of HGMC patrons or the public. 

We have security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuses, and alteration of data under our control. In all cases, the information is retained in secured facilities and protected from unauthorized access. Only authorized employees, trusted volunteers and board members who have a need to know such information have access to the information provided to us. While we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse, or alteration of the data will not occur, we make every effort to prevent such occurrences.
